If you want a spouse, work on your character and readiness for that. If you want to call others to Islam, seek knowledge and listen to righteous scholars and teachers. Don't we already know that in order to get a good job we have to undergo the right education and preliminary experiences? Yes, we have to at least partially build our capacity for that job before it will be given to us. So, likewise, if we seek anything from Allah, don't we believe he will help us fulfill that? But if we follow your requests to Allah with doubts and emptiness, then we must blame ourselves for the result. Rather, let us prepare our hearts, prepare our homes, prepare our tongues, prepare our minds, prepare our whole lives for the good we seek. May Allah guide and bless us. Ameen.
